Group Therapy

Groups are a great way to connect with others with similar lived experiences. Groups are led by a Registered Psychotherapist, and focus on supporting participants through specific challenges or issues.


Couples & Family Therapy

At Creating Connection we use emotionally-focused therapy and a tailored approach to your unique situation. We work with you to improve your relationship with a framework that is suited to your goals as a couple.


Trauma Therapy

Our therapists are trauma-informed and specifically trained to work with symptoms of trauma and complex-trauma. Our therapists utilize an integrative approach that includes somatic psychotherapy (movement), sensory processing, mindfulness and art therapy to help you heal.

These bottom-up approaches are evidence-based and promote change and healing when just talking doesn’t seem to be enough.

Child therapy is for kids ages 3 to 12 and is a therapeutic approach used to support kids in freely expressing their thoughts and emotions. Therapeutic play can be used to help children with social, emotional and academic difficulties, behavioural issues. Play therapy can be beneficial for children who have experienced or witnessed stressful events, major life changes such as serious illness, adoption, domestic violence, divorce, trauma, or loss of a close family member.
Play therapy incorporates free play, directive play, role play, drawing and storytelling. Some tools include sandbox with miniature figurines, art materials, dolls, puppets, indoor sports equipment, and Play-Doh to support with emotional expression.


Mental Health Counselling

In individual counselling, clients learn to accept their experiences and emotions, identify stuck patterns of how they view their own emotions. Clients learn to create new narratives of themselves and others. Counselling can help with challenges such as stress, burnout, anxiety, grief, depression.

Chelsea is currently completing her degree in Social Work at Algoma University and is in her last year of the program.

The mission of the school of social work at Algoma University, is to deliver a program that prepares students for generalist practises in anti-racist, anti-colonial, indigenous, structural critical feminist, and anti-oppressive and social work practices. Graduates will be able to practice social work in ways that are ethically informed and directed towards advancing equity, equality, and social justice, with black, indigenous, two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, individuals, who express their gender and sexuality in other ways outside heteronormativity and the gender binary, Northern, Francophone, as well as other marginalized groups and remote communities.

Prior to studying social work, Chelsea obtained her Bachelor of Criminology degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and an Advanced Police Studies certificate diploma from Mohawk College.

Chelsea’s professional experience in the social service field began in 2015. This experience includes working in Correctional Services for 6.5 years in various roles with youth and adult clients who were involved with the justice system. Chelsea has also worked in education and employment services, to support youth and adult clients.

Chelsea is passionate about supporting survivors who have experienced intergenerational trauma and family estrangement. Her other areas of interest include supporting individuals who struggle with addiction, toxic shame, and guilt. Chelsea believes in using a strengths-based approach to support clients by identifying their strengths to create motivation for change.

Harlene Kundhal is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and has completed her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has worked in various mental health positions for the past six years. Some of her professional experience includes working in inpatient mental health in hospitals across Ontario, Crisis Worker, Mental Health Emergency Services, and Addictions Treatment.
